The Plot: The year is 1881. The crew of the Opera in Paris is in rehearsal for that evening’s performance when a backdrop suddenly crashes down onto the stage. The new managers, Andre and Firmin, try to minimize the incident, but the diva Carlotta storms off, refusing to perform under such conditions. Later, Christine confesses to her friend, Meg, that she has had a mysterious singing tutor, the “Angel of Music” that her father told her he would send for her after his death. Meanwhile, the Opera’s new patron, Raoul, meets Christine, who he remembers being close with as a child. As Raoul leaves, a voice calls to Christine, proclaiming its displeasure at Raoul’s presence. Just then, the image of the Phantom of the Opera appears in Christine’s dressing room mirror and leads her to his lair in the catacombs beneath the Opera House. The Phantom has secretly been training Christine to sing while falling in love with her, but when she boldly removes his mask and reveals his disfigured face, he expresses his anguish at being deformed and his wish to be loved by her before returning her to the surface. Born in Pennsylvania, USA, and blessed with natural good looks, it didn’t take long for Hugh Panaro to gain legions of fans and followers, mostly female, who call themselves “Panarophiles.” Hugh’s original Broadway debut after a string of successful and notable supporting and lead theater parts in productions such as Chicago and Jesus Christ Superstar was as Marius in Les Misérables. To date, this is the third time that Hugh will play the part as the Phantom, most recently, to replace actor John Cudia.
===Christine Daae: Sara Jean Ford.===
Broadway fans couldn’t seem to get enough of Sara, who currently top bills Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera production along with Hugh Panaro. And who could blame the fans? Seemingly just another attractive girl-next-door, Sara with her diminutive form belies a powerhouse of acting and voice talent that is squished magically inside her lithe frame. Sara debuted on New York as part of the cast of The Fantasticks and has since then, never looked back. She was awarded the lead female role as Christine after a national tour gig originally as the Mirror Bride. She has also graced in the past other theater productions such as A Little Night Music and Finian’s Rainbow.
===Raoul: Kyle Barisich.====
Named as Mr. USC at his college Alma mater, which is the University of Southern California, Kyle went on to follow his dreams in theater and has previously appeared in the long-running national leg tour of the Phantom of the Opera show. Kyle went on to succeed Sean MacLaughlin, who has played the Broadway part as the romantic Raoul. Kyle is also a noted food and pop culture contributor to Fox News, aside from his other gig as a frequent performer for the live audience of “LIVE! with Regis and Kelly.”
===Carlotta: Michele McConnell.===
Not much is known so far about Michele McConnell, who plays the role of Carlotta exceedingly well, which is a shame. But what we do know is she originally played the bit part in Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera as a wardrobe maiden and confidante.

Marilyn Caskey is a veteran theater actress that has achieved recognition and prominence by playing the necessary matue roles in Broadway productions with much aplomb and mastery. Aaron Galligan-Stierle had his Broadway debut in the theater production of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He has also played a role in Ragtime. His prior theater experiences include Camelot, Cinderella and My Fair Lady.

It’s the cunning direction and the wonderful and apt choreography onstage of the Phantom of the Opera, that gives the production a wonderful visual opulence that takes a hold of all of the audience and sustains that hold on them throughout the entire performance. The direction of the performers continues through the years to be superb despite the fact that there have been numerous casting changes over the past two decades. From 1988 through 2002 it accumulated awards from New York with Outer Critics Circle Awards and Drama Desk Awards. From Los Angeles it received several different awards from the Drama Critic Awards.
